TOOL #1

So this wasn't so hard to create but how can I use this blog in my classroom?  I think students will need to create Voki's as a character in a novel and give me a clue as their comprehension of the story.

  1. That is one way to do it. Or, you can preview a novel by making your voki a character and putting hints in the voki about things in the story with the background and added items. (Some of the vokis let you add items such as a piano, etc.) Then, you could make putting commments on the blog as part of their classwork assignments. You could post and have students comment. They could also read each other's comments and comment back on that. One post might be about foreshadowing, another about plot development, etc. End the post with a question that people can respond to. This really works well in English classes. Have fun.

  2. As you move through some of the other tools, you will probably find more applications that can be used with your classes, another good character creator is GoAnimate. They can create cartoon videos so you can really get into the animation part of novel analysis.

  3. I think that the blog is a good way to address students that may not quite understand or ELL students. Kids are very guarded when asked to share their thoughts with others. A blog allows students to contribute without being judged.

  4. The more I look at the various comments and posts I see where this could so helpful to all of our students. I feel like the more opportunities that a students has to see other views and comments.
